On September 10, 1944, a group of concerned citizens, most of them members of the Montreal Civil Defense, formed an organization with the objective of providing aid and comfort to firefighters as well as citizens. Since that time, Montreal’s auxiliary firefighters have supported Montreal\u2019s finest at all types of disaster sites by distributing hot drinks, refreshments and dry clothing.<\/p>\n
Over the years, the extent of our involvement with the fire department has increased as well as the amount of equipment we use on-scene, and the quality and variety of snacks and refreshments has evolved ten- fold.<\/p>\n

Currently equipped with two rehabilitation trucks and an ambulance, not only do we provide first-aid to firefighters who have been injured or overcome by smoke, we also provide transportation to the hospital in the absence of Urgences Sant\u00e9. Our rehab services include hot and cold drinks, snacks, portable shelters, showers, misting fans in summer as well as clothes to keep them warm in the frigid winter. The PAM staff are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to support the Montreal firefighters.<\/p>\n
In addition to the on-scene rehab services, our dedicated volunteers participate in ceremonial and social events, bringing antique firetrucks that we maintain, a kiosk representing the Montreal Firefighter\u2019s Museum with various artefacts and photographs and we sell memorabilia and souvenirs with the PAM and Museum emblems.<\/p>\n
